If you like working outdoors, growing plants, raising farm animals & fish, caring for our environment, learning and practicing the Hawaiian Culture, going on field trips, and traveling for school, The Lahainaluna Agriculture Learning Center and Natural Resources Career Pathway has one or more courses that will fit your interests and can help lead you into a rewarding career of managing and protecting our natural resources. These are the courses that you can sign up for next year: For first-year students, we recommend that you sign-up for the: Natural Resources Pathway Core class. You can also take the: Plant Systems 1, Animal Systems 1, or Natural Resources Production 1 class. For second to fourth-year students, you can sign-up for a level 2 Plant Systems, Animal Systems, or Natural Resources Production class, or you can take an Agribusiness, Directed Studies, or Capstone class. Aloha my name is kahealani Garcia I'm a senior Callahan Luna High School a student over agricultural Learning Center and this year's president of the Future Farmers of America or FFA lahainaluna chapter in this presentation I will share with you information about our natural resources program the agricultural Learning Center and our FFA at lahainaluna high school as you'll be registering for the classes that you'll be taking next year what I like about our natural resources program is that there's many benefits the program that includes gaining experience has getting a bunch of skills helping the Ina and socializing having fun learning center Pro I'm Survivor students and their parents with greater academic Choice by creating unique and specialized programs of Excellence within our public education Learning Centers were created at selected high schools in our state with each Learning Center organized around a single theme or folks area at our school the theme in focus is agriculture and Learning Resource and natural resources for Learning Center here at lahainaluna high school is committed to teaching our students about Zephyr Diversified production agriculture a Hawaiian culture based culture education and the value of Partnerships with our business industry and Community we also support other programs at our own school like the lahainaluna boarding Department Hawaiian immersion culinary and health Pro we continue to work with and received support from various schools and Community organization along with our alumni what is natural resources it is materials or substances such as minerals Forest water and fertilize that occurs in nature and can be used for economic gain it is also the same resources that should be protected and preserved for our survival and enjoyment how about agriculture that agriculture science or practice of farming including the cultivation of soil for the growing of crops and the production of animals to provide food clothing shelter and many other products that we need to live and survive on lahainaluna high school's agriculture Learning Center provide following courses for student has two animal systems one animal systems to Wildlife Conservation management natural resources production one and two and business there's a special introductory course that we recommend for all students who are new to our agriculture Learning Center called natural resources pathway core are agriculture teachers are mr. Tioga and Puma promo code let's take a moment to meet them I teach my system 1 and 2 and also natural resources production 1 and 2 Aloha my name is Kumho ProMedica a Krueger and I currently teach the animal systems went into I'll also be teaching the natural resources conservation and Wildlife Management as well as the incoming course which is natural resources pathway core the FFA is a dynamic Youth Organization that changes lives and repairs its members for Premier leadership growth and Career Success Through agriculture education the FFA the national student leadership organization that's not like most clubs which only has students doing from our school ever offered at most high and intermediate schools all across the you we are over 400,000 FFA members strong and still growing lanolin is one of 17 FFA chapters in our state and they're over 2250 Hawaii FFA members interstate on every main Hawaiian island when you take an agriculture class you can join the FFA as an FFA member you can have all the benefits benefits of being an FFA member such as learning and practicing how to be a leader traveling to participate in FFA activities challenging self and others by doing FFA competitions doing lots of volunteer work to help others being invited to our FFA members only social dinners pigness or cookouts and learning as they scholarships for college hi my name is Sonia Rojas I'm a freshman at lahainaluna this is my first year in FFA and what I like about FFA is that we can make friends and the opportunities that present when I ask my classmates why did you take us natural resources are agriculture class usually the answer would be because they had their friends say that we do more Hands-On work and learning in our classes when compared to other classes offered at lahainaluna they also say that they love going on enter agriculture students always go on field trips to local farms uh Maui College and the agriculture business has many times throughout the year from my own experience being a fourth-year Agriculture and FFA student I can tell you this is 100% true are students going many trips to neighbor islands for State FFA conferences and we also get to travel to the mainland like traveling to our Nationals Capitol Washington DC like I did two summers ago and also to Indianapolis Indiana First National FFA convention that was attended by more than 70,000 FFA students from all 50 states and are u.s. territories we also have traveling and camps in many special places in Hawaii such as called Kawaii Hawaii island and a Cockerel or Valley to do volunteer work and learn and practice Hawaiian culture the lahainaluna agricultural Learning Center is at the very heart and history of our school we hope you consider being a student and taking their classes it all starts with signing up for that natural resources pathway for it will lead you to a high school career with the lifetime skills and memories that will stay with you long into the future
