Message from TA Principal Jeri Dean to Class of 2020 concerning Friday, May 15th Video/Photo Day

Aloha Class of 2020!!!!

We are so proud of all of you!!! We are excited to be able to see you all again and capture one of your most special in your graduation cap and gown.

Please see the attached map, list of times we are asking you to join us on campus and the KHON2 permission form. Join us in your cap and gown for a photo & video which will feature Lahainaluna's Senior Class!!! The video will be broadcast on Sunday, May 31, 2020, 5 - 6 pm on KHII channel 5, featured on KHON2 You Tube and

Arrive at your scheduled time (see attachment). Mask are required and all social distancing regulations must be adhered to. Family members can come with you, they must remain inside your vehicle.


Everyone in their cap and gown
Men in white collared shirt and black tie
Ladies in white
You must print and sign (parent signature if you're under 18) the KHON2 release form, bring it tomorrow (see attachment).
You must have your ID with you
You will be given your CTE pins, honors cords, etc if you are on the list to receive them
After your pictures, you will also receive your yearbook - if you purchased one.

Mayor Michael Victorino encourages all high school seniors to send a three-second video clip of themselves to be included in a celebration video for Maui County’s 2020 high school graduates.

Deadline to submit video is Friday, May 15, 2020.

“Our high school seniors have endured a lot through this global pandemic,” Mayor Victorino said. “We wanted to take this opportunity to do something special for them and honor their accomplishments through a video that their friends and families can also enjoy.”

Students should send their three-second video clip via email to Students, parents, teachers and staff are encouraged to share this email to their graduates.

The video will be posted on the County of Maui’s Facebook, YouTube and Instagram accounts. It will also be played on Akaku Maui Community Media channels.

Directions for submitting video:
• Type your name as it appears on your school ID and the name of your school in the Subject Line of the email. (Example: John Doe – Maui High School)
• Please send only .mp4 or .mov video file types.

Guidelines for video clips:
• Graduates are encouraged to wear their cap and gown or clothes with school logo or colors.
• Maintain social distancing by filming only yourself (unless you are with immediate family).
• Video should be no longer than three (3) seconds.
• Do not send multiple videos.
• NO inappropriate clothing, language or content.

Hey Juniors (2021),

Please join the Remind app to connect with me through text message. This is a very unusual time, you and your parents may have questions regarding college admissions requirements, SAT/ACT tests, AP exams, etc. Please feel free to text me your questions through the Remind app or send me an email.

Currently, I have 180 seniors (2020) on my Remind app and we are finding it very helpful to send announcements and answer questions as they come up.

I will start sending information regarding what you should be doing to prepare yourself for college applications and financial aid in May. So join my Remind app now!

Please be aware that there are a lot of scams circulating now regarding college, financial aid and scholarships. You are the perfect target for these scams. Before you sign up for anything or pay for anything please let me know.

May 24, 2020 Alternative Graduation Information

Lahainaluna is planning an alternative graduation in lieu of traditional commencement ceremonies for our Seniors which will take place on May 24th. A plan for this event that includes social distancing measures has been submitted to the Hawaii DOE and is awaiting approval. Details will be forthcoming.
