Message from Principal Carosso on Commencement 2026

To the Lahainaluna Class of 2026 and your Families,

Seniors, it is with a heavy heart that I write to share that I will be unable to join you at this year’s commencement ceremony. While I have looked forward to celebrating this incredible milestone with you, my own daughter is also graduating from college on the mainland at the exact same time. As both an educator and a parent, I find myself in a position where I must be there to support her as she walks across the stage, just as your families will be there for you.

Please know that being absent from such a momentous occasion at Lahainaluna was a difficult decision. I have watched this class navigate the unique challenges with a level of grit and "Lunas" spirit that is truly inspiring. Vice Principal Heinlein will be taking my place in certifying the class of having attained your diplomas. Though I won’t be there in person to see you turn your tassels, I will be cheering for you from afar and celebrating your success in spirit.

I am immensely proud of everything you have achieved. Congratulations to the Class of 2026, you have left an indelible mark on our school, and I cannot wait to see the amazing things you will do next.

With deepest pride and aloha,

Richard Carosso
Principal
Lahainaluna High School
