Important Message from Principal Carosso ( Sunday, April 13. 2025)

April 13, 2025

Dear Lahainaluna High parents and guardians,

Creating a safe and respectful learning environment is essential to our work. As part of our commitment to keeping families informed, we want to let you know about a situation that was reported last week.

A written threat was found in one of our student restrooms, referencing potential violence on campus. School administration immediately began an investigation, and we’re sharing this update now after taking the time to fully assess the situation and consult with law enforcement. The matter is being addressed in accordance with Department protocols.

The Maui Police Department was also consulted and is investigating. As an added precaution, you may see an increased police presence on campus Monday to provide additional support and reassurance.

Please know that all threats are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. Making threats of this nature is a Class A offense under Hawai‘i State Department of Education student misconduct rules, and students can face serious disciplinary and legal consequences.

Please talk with your child about the seriousness of making or spreading threats, even as jokes. We appreciate your continued support in helping us maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our administration at (808) 727-6400.

Mahalo,

Richard Carosso

Principal
