Aloha!
To high school seniors in Maui and others over 18 years of age. UH Maui College and Hui No Ke Ola Pono's Kealaho'imai program are co-sponsoring a dental assistant program this summer for primarily underemployed/unemployed populations. Please find details for the program attached. There is no deadline date for the application, but the courses start in early June.
Some highlights:
1) There are two separate funding sources for this Dental Assisting Certificate program, including Hui No Ke Ola Pono's Kealaho'imai program and UH's Hana Career Pathways program;
2) Anyone interested should contact College & Career Specialist Crystal Lagazo at [email protected] and she will have them fill out an application in order to determine if they qualify for either sources for the full tuition sponsorship;
3) Native Hawaiians as well as unemployed/underemployed individuals are being targeted. "Underemployed" means those who are working less than 20 hours per week or earning less than $20 per hour. Individuals ages 18 and older may apply, in addition to high school seniors who are graduating this year;
4) A Nurse Aide Certificate program targeting the same populations is being developed. Additional information is forthcoming.
