Hey Juniors (2021),

Please join the Remind app to connect with me through text message. This is a very unusual time, you and your parents may have questions regarding college admissions requirements, SAT/ACT tests, AP exams, etc. Please feel free to text me your questions through the Remind app or send me an email.

Currently, I have 180 seniors (2020) on my Remind app and we are finding it very helpful to send announcements and answer questions as they come up.

I will start sending information regarding what you should be doing to prepare yourself for college applications and financial aid in May. So join my Remind app now!

Please be aware that there are a lot of scams circulating now regarding college, financial aid and scholarships. You are the perfect target for these scams. Before you sign up for anything or pay for anything please let me know.

Good Afternoon! Here is the menu for Monday, April 27th to Friday, May 1st (Lei Day). Just a reminder that the Pickup Site is at Lahaina Intermediate School. Who is eligible? All Children Grades K-12. Students Must Be Present During Pick Up
Times: Breakfast 7:00 am – 8:30 am
Lunch 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

Lahainaluna is planning an alternative graduation in lieu of traditional commencement ceremonies for our Seniors which will take place on May 24th. A plan for this event that includes social distancing measures has been submitted to the Hawaii DOE and is awaiting approval. Details will be forthcoming. HIDOE announced today (Friday, April 17, 2020) the continuation of enrichment and distance learning through May 28, the last day of the 2019-20 school year. The decision was made based on the latest guidance and information from health officials and elected leaders.

AP/SAT/ACT Scam

Message from Kristy Arakawa, Lahainaluna High School College and Career Center Counselor:

Hi Lahainaluna Students:

I just received a message from my state AP contact. She sent me a message to be careful of a new scam, one that recently affected Mililani High School. Please read below AND TELL YOUR PARENTS!!!

"I wanted to alert you to a scam that has happened to some Mililani High School parents. They received phone calls that said they were from ACT and College Board (PSAT/SAT/AP), asking them to submit a deposit so they can be sent a disk with software that will allow them to test at home.This is a scam and not from either ACT or College Board. Neither organization would ever contact parents by phone. Please pass this information to your families."
