Are you a graduating Lahainaluna senior who is fluent in a second language? You may be eligible for the HIDOE Seal of Biliteracy! You must demonstrate fluency in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi or English and a second language.
To demonstrate fluency in either ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi or English, you must have a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA upon graduation in the language courses required to earn your high school diploma. For English, you could also show a score of “3” or above in the Smarter Balanced English Language Arts/Literacy assessment completed in grade 11.
To demonstrate your fluency in the second language, you must earn a score of 5 or above in each language domain of an Avant exam.
