I like to thank all of our parents and members of our staff and school who are joining us in today's parent meeting without further I'd like to introduce to you the host of today's what is officer in each of us and our community on the challenges as well as considerations that as far ke Aloha everyone I'm so honored and grateful for this opportunity to be here with all of you on such a different time that we are facing and just want to walk up all of our students and our parents here to our campus is Ben's is so great to see all of you and Lucy are kids in school in a setting that is so become why different in in Indian times now so what's been going on I thought about how can we kids back into some type of normalcy and I thought about how can we add me as a resource officer and returning to school for kids I'm in returning to school 14 safety another word for the word c checking in with with checking in with with are you much of today's pandemic has caused anger and depression amongst are you so checking in with them and talk with my teenager are you sitting down having one-on-one face-to-face contact conversations with them checking in with them is when part of the same that you normally would be and I don't like that. how can I invest address the situation so checking in with our kids each day and especially and then really get to know how they and then acknowledge what our kids are being knowledge in that email I died mom I feel scared I have anxiety I'm nervous around other people nervous around I'm nervous around pictures of be back in school of where to hang out hang out with those things that are precious that are kids in couples with Malcolm back to school after being away for so long I think our feeling is real and it how can we help them after that after that weather is meeting with a counselor meeting with our parents on how to service side piece checking with Sam on how long do you spend on their device how many times to be on the phone and then also checking with her mental health remember growing up as a kid there's no such thing as for me and my girlfriend sad go outside and go run a couple accident or go do something that's fine you know don't go back Rockin Jump Off Black Rock in and you know shake off that sadness of that depression is no such thing as parents as adults we need to understand that it is real acknowledge that if it does happen and it helped our child know that there is differences between just being sad and then there's real depression are we need to address that and then how we address that offering therapy normalizing the conversation of saying you know what you know when I was a kid we never talked about their fries all you going to the therapist you got to stay away from me but it's not like that that it is a beautiful thing that we can be able to go sit down with someone who can understand and then things to work on to help us with whatever you're struggling with whether be anxiety and depression thoughts of self-harm and so on it is just and being a parent is a woe when I go for that a wonderful link that I've done a lot of research on this ww.w. In Lake hawaii.com cam got to do some research and look into a on how to if you are struggling with something the next word is to accept not accepting that change can I will happen we just don't know when and where it's going to when it's going to happen to exchange occurs help your team navigate through it and give them some Direction so I tell my kids I hate you know what this is Game Plan if the school has to go in a situation where we have to address this concern this is what we're going to do as a family too and just too much and then plan B is this how we're going to dress that fancy because here we are can I expect their kids to come up with plans and having no adults cuz we live in the world today were a lot of are you ottobar adult film as far as like the weather is things that happened in the home whether it's been influencing is outside of the school outside of the home whether it's been political non-political but they're just kids that have compassion for kids I know that you know how can I help you how can I help them how can we help him as a team here and because we never went through it but we have to kind of just be like you know what we're the adults here let's come up with a game plan will boo getting into a routine for the predictability and structure that we as human beings before the pandemic routines and part of our education and helping our kids Excel and just accepting things come we need to reach out to ask our respect their so much tension in this world today so respect is something that we need more of respect for help for you and your family stay home we work with you guys in the store and you need to get yourself and then and then I'm respecting that your school is is alright for you and your family to know that but if I mean I'm sorry right by keeping the school safe so things like drugs alcohol Contraband in school it doesn't show respect for you and your family are school and ultimately what it does is jeopardizing the students helping a safety here we do work situations we have the password kids will be in school and they brought things that weren't supposed to be and then we got sick and then we had a whole situation when you have to worry about this child that we didn't know what they took and no one wanted to tell us what pizza so having that respect when you return back to school the last letter is e for educate so parents gestation of willing to educate yourself on what our kids are doing so knowing what the Words Bee dabs things to look out for hanging in the room and then just taking new woman to go on a computer and Google man I don't know if my kid is wearing about my Google that I had no idea and a lot of times for us here when things happen. when we presented to the parents and then another thing to limit their time for them on their Electronics to educate and how you learn about it there's a website I tell you everything you need to know is on this website what are looking at all the words the burbage's to watch out for it to listen to something I say wouldn't you want them if we're driving around a corner and there's a boulder in a way would it be willing to take the initiative to say hey you know what but you are like Papa ww.w Common Sense Media.
